Backstory: (Note: Staele used to be his name but, to prevent the organisation from finding him/ remain unknown, he changed it to Elaet)
Born in 1405 in a ruling region of Depuer of the Late Girberg and Lady Rubytoe. Business were booming due to the mining and trading of raw ore like gold ingots. It was a land that’s prosperous and the ruling family were loved by its people.
As Stæle would grow up, at first they thought how little of a child he was, all active with bursting energy. He adored playing with other kids and playing pranks to others. Let say he was a brat but, nevertheless his family loved him. He was educated but, Stæle didn’t felt like learning too much as he thought, everything will be done if he took over the throne and coins shall resolve it. Regardless, he loved to do archery and other sports that he can participate to. He was an athlete one said.
14 years old, still quite short. Odd, normally he would had gained a height or two. Still, he was bursting with more energy. His love for sport led him to train combat sword fighting, the thrill of swinging a steel sang as music to his ears. He was fast, fast as the wind. Every swings are quick that his opponent are overwhelmed. His small but lean physique helped him gain advantage as he can confuse and easily dodge every strikes. One time too, his ever hobby of pranking took a turn of spotting him as the culprit. He ran so fast that whoever chasing him couldn’t catchup. Hence, he was called Stæle the Fast.
1420, a normal day for their region, everything was great until war caught up to them… Scrapuer got hit first in a raid, naval battle. Lord Girberg’s army were unprepared and quickly raised an alarm to march his army to rendezvous with the other army in Scrapuer. Stæle was left behind with her mother in Depuer. Civilians from Scrapuer come pouring in this town for refuge. Tension was rising among them…
… Several hours later, a scout broke the silence. He came running to report to Lady that Lord Girberg was slain in battle. Stæle was speechless. The lady fallen to her knee and tears gushed out…
… Stæle felt bad and wanted to take the opportunity to take his father’s position and command its army. Effectively, he was Lord Stæle. He regretted not learning much of tactics in battle but, he’s decent with his sword and got allies that are trained secretly by him.
Rather than a tall, young man, he stood in front of his citizens – short and proud – giving a speech to give them morale, perhaps even hope. He plead citizens to escape by boat just out back the port. He added “To those who can fight, I have spare steel!”. Their investment were used to create extra supplies just for civilians willing to fight along.
Tension returned. Hell it was as hooves and armies rushed through the front. This is their last stand. Stæle shouted among the invaders that his father was merely a decoy and taunt them to get his head as he is the real ruler of this region. Arrows started pouring like rain, hitting majority of the frontline. It followed with traps triggered thanks to Stæle inventive ‘prank’ he got up his sleeve. It effectively crippled the invaders but, soon big artilleries were brought and stream of energy broke their defence, killing most of the ones stationed nearby. Stæle had no choice but to let his army advance to slow their advance. Blades clashing as he took the battlefield with two swords and a bow wrapped to his back. No matter how skilled he and his army was, they were overwhelmed with super—soldiers with creature-like strength.
It was hopeless he thought. He pulled back to seek his mother. Hoping to tell her to escape. But, he was met with her mother killed by a super-soldier. They resemble a stature of preying birds. With grudge he fought the soldier. But, it’s futile as the room swarmed with them and he had no choice but to escape. The town was ransacked and the invaders continue its pursuit. He had no choice but to lead any survivors to his secret lair. Eventually, they got to the underground on time. He was struck with grief and reports suggest the escapees were captured. He realised that he and his comrades are stuck in the mud…
… Germalis took over both Scrapuer and Depuer. It’s inconclusive where the ruler escaped but, following 1470, Stæle is only remembered as an urban story. Lately, there’s been a rise of small gambling activities, soldiers slit to death and riches are stolen among citizen…
Along the plot, Berwin and Cristela happen to visit Depuer. They would ended up being tangled by now the king of thieve, Elæt….
